WALES won't assume they can rack up a cricket score against Japan according to Jamie Robinson, despite Australia's 91-3 annhiliation of the Asians a week ago.
The Cardiff Blues centre is expected to make his 2007 World Cup bow along with several other players at the Millennium Stadium on Thursday night as Wales try to get their show back on the road.
With Sonny Parker and Gareth Thomas both injured and Tom Shanklin likely to be rested, Robinson, 27, will get the opportunity to stake his claim for a regular place.
He said: "I'm really anxious to get some game time. I was very disappointed to miss the opening game and everybody wants to play in the big games (against Australia).
"I'm out to impress in midfield and everything is up for grabs."
Robinson was careful to give John Kirwan's men plenty of respect as they look for their first win of this tournament: "Of course we are going out to win by as many points as we can but I don't think we can assume it's going to be a cricket score - Japan are a lot better than that.
"They are tough opposition and have got some exciting players."
Despite the criticism aimed at the team after their 32-20 defeat to Australia, Robinson thinks Wales were a little unlucky: "We were still in with a shout had Stephen (Jones) not dropped that high ball which bounced straight into Latham's hands."
Sonny Parker should be fit for selection for Wales' match with Fiji on Saturday, September 29, after being stretchered off with a torn groin muscle against Australia.
