A MASSIVE police operation was undertaken in Newport this afternoon following an alleged murder attempt earlier in the week.
A 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in custody at this time.
He was arrested in connection with an incident at an address at Ariel Reach on Monday evening, which saw a man left with serious injuries.

According to eyewitnesses, this afternoon's operation in Pill involved a heavy police presence, with multiple vehicles supported by a police helicopter.
One residents of the area described it as being "on lockdown."

Another resident told the Argus the taxi he had been a passenger in was "stopped and searched" by police as it entered Pill.
"Police stopped us and asked to look in the boot and the back and asked [for the] taxi driver's name," he added.
"I've seen about 10 police cars, [a] police bike and traffic cars."
Eyewitnesses later saw a person being led away by police from an address on Commercial Road.

In a statement, a Gwent Police spokesman said: "At approximately 1.10pm today, we attended an address in Commercial Road, Newport, to carry out enquiries following an incident at Ariel Reach, Newport, on Monday evening which left a man with serious injuries.
"The police helicopter assisted the search.
"A 19-year-old man from Newport was subsequently arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.
"He remains in custody at this time."
