A GROUP of writers is holding increasingly popular open mic nights, with the latest one tomorrow.
Newport Writers Group, an inclusive group of local writers of poetry and prose, meet fortnightly and also hold open mic nights, allowing all who gather to share their work.

Their first one attracted 16 readers and raised £35 for their chosen charity.
The open mic nights raise money for Guide Dogs Cymru and are hosted at Horton’s Coffee House, Millennium Walk, which opens for the event.

The next open mic night is tomorrow (Tuesday, January 22) evening, kicking off at 7.15pm and going on until around 9pm, with all welcome to come along and listen, or even read their own work.
This is a free event, although there will be a collection for Guide Dogs Cymru as part of the ‘name a puppy’ fund, which offers the option of naming a young guide dog as incentive to reach a target amount.
Why not pop along, sample some of Newport’s talent, and help a fantastic cause?
