A MAN standing on the wrong side of a bridge caused the closure of the M4 last night.
The motorway was closed for more than three hours due to the incident.
It occurred at the bridge at the Caerleon Road motorway roundabout, near junction 25-25A.

Gwent Police said: "At approximately 6.30pm on Wednesday, January, Gwent Police received a call concerning the welfare of a man who was stood on the wrong side of the bridge at the Caerleon Road motorway roundabout in Newport.
"The M4 was closed in both directions whilst the man was brought to safety by specialist officers."

Traffic was diverted off the motorway to the nearest exit.
The road was re-opened at approximately 10.30pm last night.
