NEWPORT Writers Group have recently celebrated the latest of a series of open-mic nights.
The event was on Tuesday, January 22, and organised by the group in collaboration with artists and poets, ARRT Duo.
It was held at Horton’s Coffee House, Newport, which opened especially for the entertaining evening, and attracted writers from several groups throughout South Wales to read their work and share ideas with like-minded people.

Performers aired a variety of poems and short stories both humorous and sinister, including several focusing on the First World War, with a couple of tunes thrown into the mix.
Although these open-mic nights are free to attend they each have a collection for Guide Dogs Cymru.
The next one will be at Horton’s Coffee House, on February 26, with all welcome to attend.
