A GANG of youths have been subjecting residents in Abergavenny to verbal abuse and criminal damage, a local community support officer (CSO) has said.

Gwent Police released CCTV images of several youths, believed to be aged between 11 and 13, who could help officers with their enquiries into antisocial behaviour in the town.

A group of youths has repeatedly caused problems when entering a family's garden on Llwynu Road.

The images were circulated on social media by Gwent Police, and CSO Amanda Yung, who is investigating the incidents, said the response from the public had so far been very positive.

“I am in the process of identifying those involved," CSO Yung said. "Since we issued appeals regarding these incidents on social media, we have received a lot of support from the local community, including names and information, which has helped our enquiries.

"We would like to thank the public and our community partners for their help."

A separate report of antisocial behaviour – this time on Llwynu Close – relates to a vulnerable resident who had been receiving unwanted callers.

CSO Yung said: “Besides it affecting this individual, it has also impacted on the community around them.

"Reports suggest that the callers involved are intimidating and overstay their welcome.

"Working with Monmouthshire County Council housing, CCTV is now in place and regular reassurance visits and patrols are being carried out locally.

"Wellbeing support has also been offered to the complainant.”

She added: “Antisocial behaviour will not be tolerated in Abergavenny, or anywhere else in Gwent.

"We will continue to take all reports seriously, and take appropriate action to tackle issues as they arise.
