IMPORTANT information has been shared around road closures ahead of the Admiral City of Newport Half Marathon.
The event is taking place on Sunday, March 3, and will raise vital funds for St David’s Hospice Care.
The race starts at 9am, with road and lane closures effective between 6am – 8am until midday.
The half marathon did not go ahead last year after it was cancelled twice due to bad weather.

The areas affected by the Admiral City of Newport Half Marathon are:
• Commercial Road
• Alexandra Road
• Inside lane of the SDR
• Mill Lane Roundabout
• Usk Way

• Inside lane of Usk Way (North Bound) from Sytner BMW Car Garage, past Newport Centre, past Bus Station and around the Old Green Roundabout
• Over Newport Bridge
• Through Clarence Place
• Caerleon Road (North Bound Lane to Caerleon – Southbound lane from Caerleon to Newport remains open)
• Past Turner Street
• Past Duckpool Road
• Follows Bank Street
• Through Stockton Road
• Through Scarborough Road
• Through Stockton Close
• Through Croydon Close
• Through Croydon Court

• Through Cumberland Road
• Through Haisbro Avenue
• Onto Caerleon Road (Northbound lane only)
• Past the Moorings
• Past the St Julian’s Public House
• Over Caerleon Bridge (One lane restricted for the runners. 3 way traffic ‘stop/Go’ in operation until approximately noon).
• Highway opposite the Hanbury
• Pass over the Broadway
• Through Cold Bath Road
• Cycle path from Caerleon
• Pass through Pilmawr Road
• Pass through Albany Road onto the roundabout
• Sainsbury’s Roundabout (One lane open/one lane closed)
• Sainsbury’s Hill to Heidenheim Drive in the left lane (Right lane open for exit from Sainsbury’s)
Organisers have given assurances they wish to ensure minimal disruption and that roads will re-open as soon as possible after the last runners have passed by.

The race starts in the city centre, following a scenic route passing the Transporter Bridge, Friars Walk and Newport Castle.
The route then heads out to Caerleon, using main roads and cycle paths, finishing at the University Building on the Riverfront path.
All proceeds from the event are used to provide vital hospice services to local patients and their carers who are facing the most difficult time of their lives.
