HEAVY traffic around Newport, caused in part by a traffic light problem at Bassaleg roundabout, is causing travel chaos for commuters this morning.
Sally-Ann Roberts sent in this photograph of a backlog of traffic waiting to get to the M4 junction 28 roundabout (Tredegar Park).

She also submitted this picture of congestion as a result of the situation.
A spokesman for Costain said: "I can confirm there is a sequencing problem with the lights at Bassaleg. We're in touch with Siemens, who are attending this morning.
"We don't know why the lights dropped out of sequence, but we hope it will be rectified early this morning.
"We apologise for any inconvenience."
They later Tweeted:
The problem with signal sequencing at Bassaleg roundabout has been identified as a software fault and has now been resolved. Once again, we’d like to apologise to drivers for the delays & inconvenience experienced this morning.

But Kevin Gardiner, who uses junction 28 to leave the M4 on his daily commute, has written to the Welsh Government to voice his concerns about the traffic system currently in place.
Mr Gardiner, a businessman, said he had regular complaints from suppliers visiting the area, and had staff arriving late "due to chaos around Bassaleg".
"It makes you wonder why anyone would want to invest in this area," he added.
