NEWPORT IN BLOOM: Many artist members have taken part in the competition on behalf of Newport in Bloom 2007 which was performed at the Bettws in Bloom quarters. They were all collating their paintings to their own preference, and what a brilliant job they did!

I have actually visited the class and was amazed. As I used to teach art myself I was interested, and was very pleased with the results of these people meeting weekly simply to enjoy painting.

I have since received the results of judging in the category of three different dimensions: Fauna: 1, Pat Webb, Leach Road, Bettws; 2, Jackie Cullen, Preston Avenue, Newport; 3, Maureen Waters, Monnow Way, Bettws.

Landscape: 1, Lucy Edwards, Christchurch Road, Newport; 2, Anne Royal, Nidd Walk, Bettws; 3, A J and I Beecham, Helford Square, Bettws.

Art competition special awards: Pairs: Caira Cullen, Preston Road, and Ellie Jenkins, Bryngwyn Road.

Singles: Ellie Jenkins.

AUTUMN FAIR: The autumn fair, jumble sale, and exhibition of the winning entries, will be held at Bettws in Bloom, Lambourne Way, on Saturday, October 13, 10am-3pm, admission free.
