NEWLY elected Newport West MP Ruth Jones wants to reach out to peopel who didn't vote in the by-election to build a "better future" for the city.
Speaking to the South Wales Argus after her by-election win this morning (Friday, April 5), Ms Jones thanked everyone who turned out to vote for her.
"But I understand there are a lot of peopel who stayed home today," she said.
"And I want to reach out to them just as much to make sure we build a better future in Newport West, for jobs, the economy and the people."
Ms Jones clinched the seat with 39.6 per cent share of the vote - 9308 votes in total.

The Consvervatives were runners up with a 31.3 per cent share - 7357 votes.
While UKIP, despite early predictions of a better showing, had to settle for third with 8.6 per cent of the vote - 2023 votes.

Speaking after the by-election, Newport West's Labour AM Jayne Bryant had this to say:
The seat was contested after the death of long-serving Labour MP Paul Flynn early this year.
