A 19-YEAR-OLD man has died after he was hit by a vehicle in an alleged hit-and-run incident.
It occurred at 3.20am yesterday, in Varteg Road, Blaenavon.
A 36-year-old man from the Blaenavon area has been arrested.
A police statement said: "At approximately, 3.20am on Sunday 14th April, we were called to reports of a road traffic collision between a vehicle and pedestrian on Varteg Road in Blaenavon.
"Officers attended and sadly, the 19 year old male pedestrian involved was confirmed as deceased at the scene. His family have contacted and specialist officers are supporting them at this difficult time.
"The driver of the vehicle, a 36 year old man from the Blaenavon area has been arrested on suspicion of Death by (driving without) Due Care and Attention and Failing to Remain At The Scene of a Road Traffic Collision.
"Officers are appealing for information from anyone that could help with their enquiries and would be particularly interested in hearing from motorists with dash cam footage who have driven along Varteg Road in the early hours of Sunday morning.
