AN AMERICAN-ITALIAN restaurant has closed its doors for the final time.
Frankie & Benny’s, on Glyndwr Road in Cwmbran, has closed permanently meaning the nearest Frankie & Benny’s restaurants for food fans in Cwmbran are in Newport and Cardiff.
A statement, posted on the door of the former food venue, said: “We are now closed permanently.
“Thank you for your custom over the last few years. The nearest Frankie & Benny’s restaurants will be: Spytty Retail Park, Newport, and Newport Road, Cardiff.”
The restaurants website also confirms the closure, with their opening times listed as ‘closed’ seven days a week and a message stating: “We apologise for the inconvenience, but this restaurant is now permanently closed.”
The establishment was inspected in June 2018 and received a food hygiene rating of zero, but when inspected in December 2018 achieved a four-star food hygiene rating.

The chain restaurant formerly had a venue in Usk Plaza, at Newport’s Friars Walk, but this closed in 2017.
Frankie & Benny’s Cwmbran was part of Cwmbran Centre which boasts 19 other restaurants, hundreds of shops and free parking.
The news comes just days after M&S Cwmbran closed its doors for the final time.
