UPDATE 5.25pm: The section affected is that between the Park View Bungalows and B4254 roundabouts.
Traffic between Penmaen and Pentwynmawr is affected.
THE main A4048 road in Pontllanfraith is currently closed - and diversions are in place - following a crash this afternoon.
Emergency services are at the scene.
Motorists are being urged by Gwent Police to avoid the area if possible and find alternative routes.
