CAFFEINE HIT! On Friday, September 28, the sixth form of Duffryn High School got together to organise a coffee morning for the Macmillan Cancer Fund.
Staff and students enjoyed an array of refreshments and raised the magnificent sum of £119.
This is only the start of their magnificent fundraising efforts and we look forward to the events organised by the sixth form for Children in Need.
CROSS COUNTRY RESULTS: Sixteen of our students recently took part in the County Cross Country Championships.
All students were a credit to themselves and the school and performed with great determination.
The following students finished in the top 20 places in their age group and will now be considered for selection to represent south-east Wales. Pupils with stars have automatic selection.
1. Ellie Coster - 17th 2. Lowri Edwards - 13th * 3. Lauren Curley - 19th20 4. Daniel Chesworth - 1st * 5. Monirul Amin - 17th 6. Aby Bidgood - 9th* 7. Kathleen Cardwell - 13th* Sport and Cross country results.
A special mention to Daniel Chesworth, who finished in first place and now holds the title of County Champion.
Rugby, Seniors v Hartridge won 50-5, v Bettws lost 15-19, v St Julian's lost 22-11. Year 8 lost to Lliswerry 30-0 Year 7 v Lliswery lost 15-0.
CRICKET: Our Year 10s got to the county final for the fourth consecutive year but were beaten by 6 runs.
11. FOOTBALL: Year 7 beat Croesy 7-0 and Hartridge 7-0. Seniors beat Lliswery 4-2, Fairwater Academy 3-1. Year 11 Football beat St Julian's 8-0.
NETBALL: Bettws home Year 7 won 12-1. Year 10/11 drew 10-10.
Hannah Edwards has been selected to represent the area under-14 netball team at the county trials.
