Fully Loaded: Thanks to the enormous generosity of many local groups,Tina Williams has a full load of aid forthe next trip to Kosovo in Easter 2008.
Storage difficulties mean she isnot able to take in any aid until after that. Tina says last year's donations were so great non-perishable goods were stored and will fill the truck for the next trip.
For those who are not aware of the good work Tina and the charity is doing or was under the impression that the war and all the hardships have been relegated to history, here are some facts.
Thousands of people were forced to leave their homes during the Kosovan War and when they returned many found their homes destroyed. Tina said: "People tend to think the problems in this area have been addressed, but the sad thing is the people are in the same circumstances as they were at the end of the conflict. Approximately 30 percent of the population do have access to a water tap and over 50 percent of the population are living on less that £1.45 a day.
"All the workers are volunteers, and everything goes directly to those in need. The average numbers helped per convoy is 800 families, 4,800 people, plus schools, and hospitals."
Memorial Service: All residents in the valley are invited to attend the memorial service in Glan-y-nant Park, Cwmfelinfach on Sunday, November 11. You are requested to gather at 10.45am.
In previous years, the service has been organised by the residents of Cwmfelinfach and has been well attended.
This year there has been extensive drainage works in the park, but these are now almost complete.
The memorial stone has been erected in its new position and a lovely standing area has been laid in front to accommodate the memorial service.
Wyllie Remembers: Following on from the service in Cwmfelinfach, Wyllie village will hold its service at the memorial plaque on Glanhowy Road at 12pm on Sunday, November 11.
The local residents association will lay a wreath on behalf of the village and ten crosses will be placed in front of the plaque, one for each of the names on the memorial.
Come Along to Car Club: The Subaru Car Club meets at the Ynysddu Hotel on the last Tuesday of every month at 7.30pm.
This is a locally-run and family-orientated club which was started a year ago by Subaru enthusiasts for people who want information on where to get the best parts or service and to exchange information.
In the summer the club organises trips.
Last summer there was a family day out to Tenby and visits to three major car events.
You don't have to own a Subaru to join - if you are interested come along.
The next meeting is on Tuesday, November 27.
Chocolate Night: The young people of Wattsville had a treat recently when the Sirhowy Valley Partnership staged a chocolate fountain night at the Kids Club, held every Tuesday evening in the Pavilion.
This was a fun night with a serious purpose, which was to find out exactly what play facilities the children of the village really want.
Each child was handed a hand held control and when numbered questions were flashed up on a large screen, they had to click on the number to indicate their choice.
It was a close call between a skate park or a multi use games area.
Then, after all that hard work, they tucked into the chocolate fountain with lots of dips.
