A MAN is being held by police on suspicion of attempted murder after an incident involving a car and a pedestrian in Blaina early this morning.
Another man is currently in a stable condition in hospital.
The incident happened around 12.35am in the High Street in Blaina.
The man currently in police custody is 25 years old and from the Blaina area.
Argus reporter Michael Jones is at the scene. He said (11am) two police forensic investigators were photographing an area near the Bush Inn, opposite the Ladbrokes betting shop.
"A section of Blaina High Street remains closed to all pedestrians and traffic in both directions," said a Gwent Police spokesman.
"We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed - or may have information about - this incident, to come forward."
