TO celebrate the 200th birthday of Blackwood, a special performance depicting the history of the town will be held.
Blackwood Little Theatre has teamed up with the Blackwood Bicentennial Committee to create Palimpsest: a journey through the history of the town and the land it was created on, from the Roman invasion to the modern day.
The piece was written by Graham J. Evans and will be performed on Friday, July 17, and Saturday, July 18 at Blackwood Little Theatre.
Tickets for the 7.30pm performances are £7.50 and can be bought from https://thelittleboxoffice.com/blackwood/?fbclid=IwAR3kcA8KqvXjCsc_hcqlkqBHOb_AYx684FkR5I14GWJP57pihcAhb5JcJTg
The performance is part of a series of events organised by the Blackwood Bicentennial Committee to celebrate the 200th birthday of the town and to educate residents and others about the history and the impact it has made on Wales and the economy - including the famous Sirhowy Tramroad, how the town was built and by who, how it has changed over the years and the impact on the coal mining industry.
MORE NEWS:
The performance comes just after the little theatre celebrate their own special birthday - as 2020 is the year they turn 90.
More events will be announced as part of the celebration, with the first being a host of historical talks held on Saturday, April 4 at Blackwood Miners Institute.
