Last week's picture was of the Kingsway Centre in John Frost Square, Newport.
Here's what you had to say:
The 'Then' photo is from only a decade or two in the past. It has recently been revamped but every shop is occupied which is more than can be said for Friars Walk. The big attraction was the clock in the square. This had been at the Ebbw Vale Garden Festival then re-erected here, crowds would gather on the hour to watch it come to life. At one time in the Kingsway Centre was a matchstick model of the Transporter Bridge, the last time I saw this model it was upstairs in the market. Next to the Centre is the museum, public and reference library - which is always closed to the public on Mondays

Now and Then is Sainsbury, just inside, and it's John Frost Square. The library is nearby and next to it a clothes shop, also steps to go to the bus station. A war memorial was there.

And on our photograph of Charles Street in Newport:
The Now and Then is Charles Street. The job centre is there, on the corner is TSB bank that used to be Owen Owen and on the other corner was Woolworths, now a jewellery store. Opposite is Lloyds and on the other corner used to be Clarkes Shoes. In Llanarth Street was Conti's where I worked as a kitchen hand. Vicara's fish shop is still there next to John Frost Square. It has all changed to Friars Walk.
