CAERPHILLY County Borough Council (CCBC) have today announced a scheme to provide packed lunches for school pupils, who would otherwise receive free school meals, during the coronavirus closures.
During the period where schools are closed, the council will continue to provide a free school meal to all eligible pupils.
If your child is eligible for free school meals and wishes to receive this service CCBC ask for notification either by emailing bridgesintowork@caerphilly.gov.uk or telephoning 01495 237921.
From Monday, March 23 to Friday, March 27, the free meal will be a packed lunch, which will be required to be collected from the following schools:
- Abercarn Primary will be the pick up point for and Ysgol Cwm Gwyddon - 11am-12pm
- Bedwas Comprehensive will be the pick up point for Bedwas Infants, Bedwas Junior and Tyn-y-Wern Primary - 11am-1pm
- Blackwood Primary - 11am-11.45am
- Bryn Awel Primary - 11am-11.45am
- Bryn Primary - 11am-11.45am
- Cefn Fforest Primary - 12pm-12.45pm
- Coed-y-brain Primary will be the pick up point for Cwm Glass Primary - 11am-11.45am
- Crumlin Primary - 12pm-12.45pm
- Cwm Ifor Primary - 12.15pm-1.15pm
- Cwmcarn Primary will be the pick up point for and Ysgol Cwm Gwyddon - 12.15pm-1pm

- Ysgol Ifor Bach site will also be the pick up point for Cwmaber Infants, Cwmaber Juniors, and Nant Y Parc Primary - 11am-1pm
- Ysgol y Castell will also be the pick up point for Cwrt Rawlin Primary and the Twyn Primary - 12.15pm-1pm
In a statement, CCBC said: "For everyone’s safety when the free school meals are being collected, please can you form an orderly queue ensuring that you leave at least a two-metre gap between yourselves and the person in front and behind you.
"This service will cease on the Friday, March 27 and will be replaced on Monday, March 30 with a frozen meal provision. Further information on how the meals will be distributed will be published later this week on the Caerphilly County Borough Corporate website.
