CHANGES have had to be made to a number of NHS services provided in Gwent - in terms of practices and procedures - due to the impact of the coronavirus outbreak.

These range from a GP surgery moving premises, to services being suspended, reorganised, or slimmed down. The changes include:

A temporary new home for the Glyn Ebwy Surgery in Ebbw Vale

From today, Glyn Ebwy Surgery in Ebbw Vale has moved from its existing premises in James Street, with primary care now being provided from the outpatient department at Ysbyty Aneurin Bevan, Lime Avenue, Ebbw Vale.

The move has been prompted by the need to use the surgery site as an assessment centre during the coronavirus pandemic.

"Please be assured that patients of Glyn Ebwy Surgery who require the services of their GP during this time will experience very little disruption, and you will still be able to access the service for the duration of the relocation," reads a statement on the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board website.

Surgery contact numbers are unchanged.

Clinical Haematology Services

Clinical haematology services at the Royal Gwent and Nevill Hall Hospitals have been moved to Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr at Ystrad Mynach.

This includes all day cases, assessments and inpatients - but haematology outpatient services remain at the Royal Gwent and Nevill Hall for the time being.

They too are set to move, but more information will be provided when it is available.

Maternity

Antenatal education and pregnancy yoga classes have been cancelled.

"To ensure women in Gwent can still access these services, we are putting together videos of these sessions to share on a private social media group that women under our care will be invited to," reads a health board statement.

"These online sessions will be available for all pregnant women across the health board area.

"The videos can be watched at any time, but there will also be a live weekly online question and answer session with one of our consultant midwives, to offer further support."

Health visiting and early years staff, who also deliver antenatal education, will also be making videos available to share on the same platform, and the aim is to have these available this week.
