Six Villages - Brynawel, Cwmfelinfach, Wattsville, Wyllie, Ynysddu and Gelli Groes Are you celebrating your wedding, anniversary, exam results, or organising an event or a social evening. If so, why not give me a call. I would love to include it in my column.
Wyllie Remembrance: Wyllie village held its annual remembrance service around the village plaque on Glanhowy Road.
The plaque commemorates the ten young men from Wyllie who fell in the Second World Ward.
Dai Lewis laid the wreath on behalf of the village and members of the congregation laid ten crosses - one for each name on the plaque.
The Reverend Marion Barge conducted the service.
Paul Richards from Abercarn played the Last Post and Reveille at the Cwmfelinfach service then travelled to Wyllie village to play at their service, which followed afterwards.
New police welcomed: The valley welcomes its new police ward officer PC Hywel Walker.
PC Walker says he will be taking a tough approach to anti-social behaviour in order to make the streets of Ynysddu Ward a safer place.
Christmas Panto: Christmas would not be Christmas without a pantomime and this year you can enjoy a trip to a top show.
The Cwmfelinfach Residents Association is running its annual panto trip to see Stan Stennett in Robin Hood and the Babes in the Woods at the Paget Rooms, Penarth.
The bus will be leaving at 5.30pm on Saturday, January 12, from Cwmfelinfach, reaching Penarth in time for the evening performance.
Tickets are £14 each. To book contact Shelagh Williams on 01495 200509.
Car Club: The Subaru Car Club meets at the Ynysddu Hotel on the last Tuesday of every month at 7.30pm.
This is a locally-run and family-orientated club started a year ago by Subaru enthusiasts for people who want information on where to get the best parts and service and to exchange information.
In the summer the club organises trips. Last summer there was a family day out to Tenby and visits to three major car events.
You do not have to own a Subaru to join - if you are interested come along. The next meeting is be on Tuesday, November 27.
