GWENT Police have been busy tackling covidiots this weekend after they seized vehicles and arrested a drug-driver during some flagrant acts of anti-social and criminal behaviour.
The lockdown has no meaning for some who either continue to break the law or defy the government’s lockdown rules aimed at combating the coronavirus outbreak.
Officers in Newport confiscated a moped after complaints were received from the public.

A car is impounded by a police officer in the Stow Hill area of Newport
The force wrote on Twitter: “Moped stopped and seized on Commercial Road today after reports of the vehicle riding anti-socially along footpaths in the Pill area. Thank you for raising your concerns with us.”
And they impounded a car in Stow Hill after reports of it being parked illegally.
Officers tweeted yesterday: “Vehicle stopped after being seen parked on white zig zags in the Stow Hill area. Driver also had no license or insurance.
“Vehicle seized and driver reported for all offences.”
Officers seize a moped in Pill
The Abergavenny neighbourhood team made a drugs arrest late last night.
Again on Twitter, Gwent Police said: “Roadside drugs wipe administered. One in custody for testing positive for cannabis. Class A and B drugs also seized.”
Officers were appalled to come across a shocking piece of fly-tipping in Bedwas.

Caerphilly officers tweeted: “Nice to see people appreciating the countryside and using it as their own waste site.”
Officers carrying out checks in Abertillery
Police in Blaenau Gwent were however happier to report on Twitter: “Officers in Abertillery have been stopping vehicles and are pleased to say that all persons were only making essential journeys.”
