Here's the latest Argus column by South Wales East MS Delyth Jewell:
LAST week brought a blessing to many people who are once again able to see their family and friends following 10 weeks of hard lockdown.
The new guidelines are that members of two household can meet as long as they stay local, meet outdoors and observe the two meter social distancing rule. These rules make sense and Plaid Cymru support them.

Bringing the virus under control locally was achieved because the vast majority of local people followed the rules, and by doing so, saved many lives.
We must not forget however that hundreds of people died in Gwent over the past few months. We will cherish their memories and when the time comes a full public inquiry will provide answers to grieving family members about where responsibility lies for failures in providing PPE and adequate testing.
There have been terrible failures in stopping the virus getting into care homes and I’ve not been satisfied with the Welsh Government’s refusal to explain why residents coming into homes from hospitals weren’t tested. There are lessons to be learned and those in power will have to answer for their decisions when the time comes.
While the people of Gwent led by example in following the official guidelines, the same cannot be said of the Prime Minister’s chief advisor.
It’s nothing short of a disgrace that Dominic Cummings was allowed to keep his job after flouting the rules he demanded others follow.
Public anger at this episode seems to have led to widespread flouting of the rules in England, and I was shocked to see pictures of packed beaches over the weekend.
This didn’t happen in Wales where people have continued to follow the rules, even though they’re stricter over here.
This crisis has shown the strength of devolution, and while the Welsh Government has made mistakes, it’s done a better job than Westminster, and the proof is the lower death rate in Wales compared with England.
As we approach the coming months, we’ll need to rebuild our society and our politics with firmer and fairer foundations.
I’m leading the work on this for Plaid Cymru and am open to any innovative ideas people may have to improve the way we lead our lives. If you’d like to contribute your ideas, feel free to send them my way: delyth.jewell@senedd.wales
