Six Villages - Brynawel, Cwmfelinfach, Wattsville, Wyllie, Ynysddu and Gelli Groes.
Are you celebrating your wedding, anniversary, exam results, or organising an event or a social evening. If so, why not give me a call. I would love to include it in my column.
Evening Classes: Wattsville Pavilion has been running very successful evening classes over the past weeks.
The classes were to finish at the end of November, but luckily for all those who have enjoyed the craft and computer courses they will be extended.
The computers for beginners class is extended until Monday, December 10 between 6pm and 8pm.
This will be followed by another five weeks from Monday, January 7, until Monday, February 4, again between 6pm and 8pm.
The extended Christmas craft class extensions are on Wednesday, December 12, and Wednesday, December 19.
The times have been slightly altered however.
The class is now running from 6.30pm until 8.30pm at the request of the students.
At this time there are no plans to run another craft course in the New Year - but this can always be revised if there is a demand.
Once again all these classes will be free of charge as they will be classed as taster sessions but are strictly adults only.
Restoration: Due to much-needed restoration work on St Theodore's the Mother's Union had to cancel its Christmas party.
Sue Logan who organised the party said the work took longer than expected and the inside of the church was not in a suitable state to cook and serve food.
Fortunately the work should be finished in time to give the church a good clean ready for the carols by candlelight service.
Carol Service: St Theodore's is holding its carols by candlelight service on Monday, December 10, at 7pm.
Tina Williams will be giving an update on her aid to Kosovo and the Sardis Ladies Choir will lead the singing.
Fans of the Sardis Puppets will be pleased to know they will be making an appearance and no doubt joining in the singing.
New Wall: Improvements are continuing on the river road below Cwmfelinfach.
Residents who enjoy a walk along the cycle paths will have seen a beautiful stone wall being built next to the St Lawrence Bridge.
This is part of the project by the council to enhance the entrances to the cycle paths in the valley and has been funding by the Welsh Assembly.
Lower Sirhowy Valley Partnership: The Lower Sirhowy Valley Partnership will be holding its next meeting on Monday, December 10, at 6pm in the Rooms above the Sardis Chapel.
Officers from the Forestry Commission will be telling the meeting all about their work on the mountains above our valley.
The meeting is open to the public and anyone wishing to come along will be made welcome.
Care Home: Steve Adams, activities manager at Craig y Trwyn Care Home, Brynawel, has organised plenty of entertainment for the residents in the run up to the festive season.
On Friday, December 7, there is a Christmas variety show with Dabhand Productionsfor the residents.
On the same day at 5.45pm there isaChristmas event with mulled wine and minced pies with craft items and cakes on sale as well as games and prizes to appeal to children.
Friends, relatives and members of the public will be very welcome to attend and join in the festivities Church in the Pub: The Reverend Marion Barge will be holding a traditional carol service at the Islwyn Inn, Wyllie, on Tuesday, December 11, at 7pm.
