Saturday, November 24, was a wonderful day for Mrs Christine Wix of Kingfisher Place, Duffryn.

She celebrated her 70th Birthday with family and friends and neighbours and she entertained her guests were many renderings of songs of the 60s and 70s.

Chris was a professional singer many years ago in Australia and she has kept that talent today. At her party she had many lovely presents and had brought items to be able to hold a raffle.

Before the raffle began she asked what charity we believed in, after very little thought she decided to give the proceeds to the Mayors charity which is "Just one Child."

We explained to the guests what this charity was all about and the sum raised was £85.

This was a wonderful response considering there were only about half of the expected amount of people.

Well done to all of you people who were there and the Mayor sends his sincere thank you.
