TEN Blaenau Gwent takeaways could be closed after staff failed to wear masks indoors, while another could be shut down closed for failing to maintain social distancing.
Eleven improvement notices have been handed out in Blaenau Gwent in the last week – all to takeaways in the area.
Of the 11, ten have been handed an improvement notice because staff were not wearing face coverings. If things don’t change then the takeaways are at risk of closure.

The ten takeaways are:
- Best Kebab Fish Bar in Abertillery
- Central Fish Bar in Tredegar
- Cwm Kebab House
- Abertillery Kebab House
- Family Kebabs in Ebbw Vale
- Master Kebab in Tredegar
- MB Fish Bar in Tredegar
- N Joy Pizza in Abertillery
- Peppinos Pizza in Ebbw Vale
- Sun Do Chinese Takeaway in Ebbw Vale
One takeaway, Pizza Plus in Brynmawr, has been handed an improvement notice for failing to maintain social distancing.
The takeaway also failed to install other social distancing measures such as controlling entrances, installing barriers, providing protective equipment, and collecting contact information for each person visiting the takeaway.
The venues have 48 hours to comply with the regulations and will face a further inspection to determine whether the improvement notice is dropped, or further action is necessary.
Blaenau Gwent Council has the option to issue a closure notice if the takeaways fail to comply with the rules after being issued with an improvement notice.
