RESIDENTS of Newport have until tomorrow, Friday, to have their say on plans for a new £19.7 million leisure centre and college campus.
Two options have been put forward for the proposed leisure centre on Usk Way, next to the existing University of South Wales building.
The leisure centre would replace Newport Centre, which has served the city for 36 years.
Both plans include health and wellbeing facilities, but one includes a larger swimming pool with smaller sports facilities, while the other plan includes a smaller swimming pool with a multi-functional hall.

The plans would see Coleg Gwent’s Nash Road campus relocated to the Newport Centre.
Newport County Council has made an application to Welsh Government for £7 million of the £19.7 million estimated cost of the project.
Speaking previously about the plans, the leader of the council, Cllr Jane Mudd, said: “We have an amazing opportunity to create a new leisure centre in the city centre. As a cabinet, we are very excited by the prospect of being able to provide fantastic new facilities, in an accessible location, for the citizens of Newport.
“On top of that, it would mean Coleg Gwent could realise its ambition for a city centre campus to give our young people a first-class learning environment.”
The chief executive of Newport Live, Steve Ward, said he was “extremely excited” about the prospect of a new leisure centre, while the principle of Coleg Gwent, Guy Lacey, said it was “a very exciting opportunity”.
