PARTY TIME FOR PONTHIR WI MEMBERS: On Friday, November 30, members of Ponthir WI were welcomed to the Star Inn, Ponthir, and enjoyed a Christmas meal with all the trimmings, with beautifully laid out tables especially prepared for them by the president, Mrs Jean Wiltshire, who welcomed all. We forgot about the very wet and stormy evening outside and enjoyed a very happy evening together.
Thanks were expressed to our president and Nancy Davies for arranging the evening.
Then, on Monday, December 3, at our monthly meeting, members stood in memory of Mrs Alyne Fleet, who had been a very loyal member in the early days of the formation of the Institute. She will be greatly missed.
The usual business, including the minutes, correspondence and the County Letter, were dealt with. The president then invited the members to enjoy the Christmas meal, prepared and served by the committee.
A varied selection of quizzes and games were enjoyed, and the evening was rounded off with with a sing-along led by Mrs Mary Laxton, who later received a pretty potted plant from our president.
Mrs Helena Thomas, on behalf of the members, thanked the committee for their hard work in preparing the evening.
Members were reminded of the next meeting, to take place at the Ponthir Village Hall, on the first Monday in January, in 2008.
