A NEWPORT boy appeared in court after being charged with having a fake gun at a city McDonald's restaurant.
The 12-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, pleaded guilty to having an imitation firearm – a silver BB handgun – in public just before Christmas.
Cwmbran Youth Court heard how he was arrested following an incident at the McDonald's outlet at Newport Retail Park in Spytty on December 22, 2020.
The schoolboy was referred to a youth offender panel for four months.

He must pay £85 costs and a £32 victim surcharge.
The court ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the gun.
