PUB goers from Risca have stripped off for a calender to raise money in memory of a friend who died of cancer.

Mark Farley is the landlord at the Prince of Wales in Dixon Place, and has organised the humourous calendar for charity.

Mr Farley, also Mr January, said: "The pictures are of local guys from the pub with their tops off in daft poses, showing their muscles.

"It's just a lot of good fun.

"Sponsors and local businessmen have paid for the cost of it, we've already sold between 60 and 80 calendars."

All proceeds go towards St Davids Foundation Hospicecare.

Mr Farley said: "We chose it because it's a local charity, a chap who used to come to the pub, Lyn Woosnam, died of cancer two years ago and my wife's father died of cancer.

The pub has organised a number of charity events for St Davids, including a darts tournament in Mr Woosnam's name, a horse racing night that raised £200 and raffles.

They have already raised £1,500 and hope to collect more than £2,000 with the sale of the calenders, which are on sale at the pub and Risca post office in St Mary Street for £5.
