Children from Ysgol Y Ffin were little stars at their Christmas show this year - literally.
The youngsters told the story of Gloywyn (Sparkle) who, although being the smallest star in the sky, had a large ambition. Through a combination of acting, dancing, singing and narration the children showed how Gloywyn achieved her dreams, becoming the Star of Bethlehem, guiding the Kings and shining down on the nativity.
The older children in the school took the parts of stars, kings, angels, shepherds and narrators with the reception class forming the nativity in the final scene.
Head Teacher, Mrs Ebo, thanked everyone for their hard work in putting on the show; the teaching staff; Mrs Parry, Miss Heath, Mr Balbini and Mrs Dixon for training the children and making the lovely star T-shirts worn by the children, parent Mr Blundell, for assisting with the staging of the production and the children for all their efforts learning the lines, songs and dances to entertain everyone.
Special mention was also made in respect of pupil Arian Howells who wrote a translation of the play for the benefit of the non-Welsh speakers in the audience.
Maria Pitman, Chair of the PTA, ended the evening by thanking the school on behalf of all the parents and friends in the audience for all their efforts during the year. She then presented small gifts to all the teachers and other school support staff. Small tokens of appreciation also went to Mr Blundell for his work on the evening's show and to Lynne Feakes for her work throughout the year translating PTA documents from English to Welsh.
