LINDA Smith, the comedian, writer and radio broadcaster who died from ovarian cancer in early 2006, is celebrated in this new stage production at Cardiff's Wales Millennium Centre which marks her contribution to comedy and coincides with the annual campaign to raise awareness of ovarian cancer.
Actors, musicians and comedians will take audiences through Smith's life story in an adaptation of her biography Driving Miss Smith.
The show is directed by two of her closest theatrical friends from her days in Sheffield, Kate Rutter and Mike McCarthy, with Warren Lakin (her partner of 23 years) in a supporting role.
The special musical guest is the singer Barb Jungr, who will perform songs from her latest album Hymn to Nina - a homage to Smith's favourite performer Nina Simone.
Performers will give renditions of Smith's material drawn from across her stage, radio and TV career and play carefully selected cuts of her comedy in audio and visual clips from shows like The News Quiz; Just A Minute; I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue; A Brief History of Time Wasting; Have I Got News For You and Room 101.
