IT'S good to see such a tough stance against the idiotic minority who seem hell bent on spoiling football matches for others.

A Newport County supporter who was ejected from an away game for throwing a bottle on the pitch is now banned from Spytty Park for his actions.

He was originally kicked out during County's clash with Dorchester on December 29 when he was spotted throwing an empty drinks bottle onto the pitch.

We are pleased he has been banned from that stadium for life and from County for the "foreseeable future".

It's also pleasing to see that real County fans were instrumental in helping stewards at Dorchester identify the 41-year-old offender.

We have previously reported the reaction of County chairman Chris Blight who told us how the club would come down hard on anyone caught causing trouble at home or away.

We're pleased to see the first signs of this.

County has a solid hardcore following of loyal fans who are devoted to their club and never present a problem to police either here or when they travel.

And with County doing so well at the moment it's such a shame to see one idiot try to tarnish their good reputation.

This ban will send out the right message to any other morons who try and spoil it for the real fans.
