FIREFIGHTERS from around Gwent were called to tackle a blaze in Newport in the early hours of today.
Fire and police investigators were due to inspect the scene in Argyle Street, Crindau, later today.
A spokesman for South Wales Fire and Rescue said it was confined to the garage area of a warehouse building in Argyle Street, Crindau.
The alarm was raised just after 1am and it was reported that the fire had spread to the roof.
Crews from Maindee, Malpas, Duffryn, Cwmbran and Caerphilly used a variety of equipment, including breathing apparatus and a hydraulic platform, to help bring the fire under control about 90 minutes later.
A spokeswoman for Gwent Police said crime scene investigators were due to visit the scene of the blaze today.
