The Alcan singers: The end of 2007 went out on a high for the singers after a successful few months prior to Christmas.
Early in October they gave a concert at the Memo in Newbridge in support of cancer research.
They donated our fee and, with other donations and raffles, £380 was added to a previously raised amount and presented to the charity representative.
The concert the singers gave was received so well, they were booked to sing again in April.
The singers had a hectic festival season to end a successful year, with lots of carol singing at community centres, residential homes, and St Woolos hospital.
At one point the singers were having to turn requests down for them to sing as they were busy entertaining four or five days a week.
They went back to visit their many friends at a variety of locations, and also a few new venues where they were given a great reception and look forward to revisiting them all again this year.
Now the new year is underway, the choir would like to wish all its friends at the many locations they visit a happy and healthy new year and hope to see you all and make many new friends in the coming year.
It looks like 2008 is getting off to a good start with bookings coming in regularly, the Alcan Singers have a few weddings coming up, for which they are putting in plenty of practise so they can make the happy couple's big day that little bit more special.
The group would welcome anyone who may enjoy singing, nothing too heavy, just light and easy, to think about coming and joining them in entertaining local people and in their charity work.
