LITTER picks are being organised by police community support officers in Pontypool.
The PCSOs in Trevethin, Penygarn and St Cadocs are encouraging locals to take better care of their environment by getting them involved in the initiative.
Gwent Police is joining forces with Torfaen Youth Service running several days to clean up residential, shopping and recreation areas.
Litter was flagged up as a community concern in the regular community and police meetings (PACT).
Now the PCSOs will run monthly clean-up days to address the problem.
PCSO Jordan Williams said: "Litter is a problem that can be easily rectified if everyone takes personal responsibility for keeping their neighbourhoods clean and tidy."
"We hope by working with the council and local residents we can not only engage with the local community but also improve the overall physical appearance of the targeted areas."
