THE YOUGOV survey today which shows just how much computers are part of the daily life of our children gives a snapshot of our changing times.

The sight of children sitting with pen and paper will soon be consigned to the history books.

A staggering 98 per cent of 11-16-year-olds used computers at school.

Nearly as many prefer doing their homework on a computer or laptop and a majority of them agree that technology is helping them to learn more.

The proof, of course, is in the pudding and what still matters is the results our children get when they come to school-leaving age.

It is easy to see why children prefer using computers to pen and paper, further the use of new technology to aid learning is all well and good, but only if the quality of learning is not adversely affected.
