Armed officers have left the scene of an incident in Peterstone.
Gwent Police confirmed that they received a call at 2.30am today and as a result of the call they had fears 'for the safety of individuals'.
A cordon was set up as precaution while officers approached an address in the Peterstone area.
Following extensive enquiries they concluded there was no longer a threat to public safety.
The police refused to say why armed officers were sent to the area, how many were sent or what actually happened this morning.
