SHORT wearing Postman Joe Farrell is halfway through his money raising mission.
The Chepstow-based Scotish Royal Mail worker made a pledge raise sponsorship money by spending the whole winter doing his postal rounds in his shorts.
But this year has not been without problems for the 61-year-old - at one point the weather was so cold he slipped on a second pair of shorts.
"I had to make a special second pair of shorts to go underneath to protect my netherregions," he said.
"It has been terribly cold. The worst could be over but with British weather you can never know what is around the corner."
Mr Farrell told the Argus that the money raising effort had been going well but he was still looking for more sponsors.
"I've had over £400 in pledges so far this year - and it is only the second week of January.
"So far I've collected about £200 from about 50 or 60 people. I've got a round of over 400 customers so hopefully more people will sign up."
Mr Farrell will be wearing his shorts until April in a bid to raise precious cash for St David's Foundation Hospice Care.
