TWO areas of Newport have Covid rates above 500 cases per 100,000 people, some of the worst rates in Wales.
Caerleon has the worst rate in Gwent.
Over the last seven days, the area has seen 45 new coronavirus cases, giving it a rate of 578.3 cases per 100,000 residents.
Pill & Docks is another area of the city that has seen its coronavirus rate rise above 500.
In the seven days between August 12 and August 18, the 46 new cases have lead to a rising Covid rate of 520.2.
Those are two of the 25 areas across Gwent with rates above 300.
They include St Cattwg, Caerphilly West and Risca West across Caerphilly.
In Monmouthshire it includes Gilwern & Llanfoist, Monmouth & Wyesham, Chepstow North & Trellech, Usk, Goytre & Llangybi Fawr, and Chepstow South.
Trefethin & Penygarn, Pontypool, Griffithstown & Sebastopol, Pontnewydd & Upper Cwmbran, Cwmbran, and Fairwater & Greenmeadow all exceed 300 in Torfaen.
While in Newport, areas with Covid rates above 300 include Malpas, Pye Corner & Graig, Shaftsbury & Crindai, St Julians & Bardnardtown, Lliswerry & Uskmouth, Lawrence Hill, Maindee, Ringland, and Victoria & Somerton.

- Sirhowy: seven new cases; a rate of 98.9 cases per 100,000 people (up from four new cases).
- Rassau and Beaufort: 15 new cases; a rate of 212.9 per 100,000 people (up from ten new cases).
- Brynmawr: eight new cases; a rate of 144.1 per 100,000 people (up from five new cases).
- Blaina and Nantyglo: 16 new cases; a rate of 168.6 per 100,000 people (up from nine new cases).
- Ebbw Vale North and Glyncoed: 16 new cases; a rate of 204.2 per 100,000 people (up from eight new cases).
- Ebbw Vale South and Cwm: 15 new cases; a rate of 176.8 per 100,000 people (down from 17 new cases).
- Tredegar and Georgetown: 18 new cases; a rate of 215.5 per 100,000 people (down from 26 new cases).
- Abertillery North and Cwmtillery: 24 new cases; a rate of 266.6 per 100,000 people (up from 15 new cases).
- Abertillery South and Llanhilleth: 11 new cases; a rate of 156.6 per 100,000 people (up from eight new cases).
Caerphilly
- Rhymney, Pontlottyn and Abertysswg: 18 new cases; a rate of 202.7 per 100,000 people (up from 17 new cases).
- New Tredegar and Darran Valley: 21 new cases; a rate of 286.6 per 100,000 people.
- North Blackwood, Argoed and Markham: 10 new cases; a rate of 176.3 per 100,000 people (up from fewer than two new cases).
- Aberbargoed and Gilfach: six new cases; a rate of 98.8 per 100,000 people.
- Bargoed: 18 new cases; a rate of 291.5 per 100,000 people (up from eight new cases).
- St Cattwg: 23 new cases; a rate of 302.4 per 100,000 people (up from nine new cases).
- Pengam and Cefn Fforest: nine new cases; a rate of 116.2 per 100,000 people (up from three new cases).
- Blackwood: 17 new cases; a rate of 231.4 per 100,000 people (up from seven new cases).
