A HOUSE on a busy Cross Keys road has been damaged yet again, as a car crashed into a front garden wall for the sixth time.

Teresa Jones, 33, was left to collect rubble from her ruined wall on 9 Mile Point Road, Wattsville, on Saturday, after a driver lost control and the vehicle smashed into her front garden.

Miss Jones said icy roads and a hail storm could not have helped driving conditions, but she was desperate for new safety measures to be brought it.

"There was quite a lot of hail at the time and a car lost control and went through the wall.

"I couldn't believe it had happened again,"

And she believed it was lucky no-one was hurt.

"There were two adults in the car and a five-week-old baby, an ambulance checked them out but they were ok.

"My son came home only five minutes later - if he had been earlier it could have been terrible."

Miss Jones said residents on 9 Mile Point Road have been campaigning to make it safer for some time and some road users were less than careful.

"They don't stick to the 30 miles-per-hour limit at all," she said.

She has now taken the issue to Caerphilly County Borough councillor Janet Jones and hopes proposed works will soon begin.

Councillor Jones said: "From what I understand this accident happened at a time of extreme weather conditions but she has had her wall damaged several times and so have other people living on the road.

"I think that whatever can be done is being done.

"I fully support the proposed traffic calming measures."

A council spokesperson confirmed they are addressing the safety concerns and said work will begin shortly: "The council is aware of the problems associated with this stretch of road and residents will be pleased to know that traffic calming works, including the introduction of speed bumps, will start in February."
