IT WAS an emotional night at Glyncoed Comprehensive school yesterday as Blaenau Gwent Young Stars put on a special show in memory of four Ebbw Vale girls who died in a car crash.

Louise Jones and Kayleigh Parry, both 16, and Danielle Caswell and Katie Roberts, both 15, died in a tragic car crash on November 2, 2006.

Louise Jones had been a member of Blaenau Gwent Young Stars for seven years and last night's performance was named, Seasons of Love - one of Louise's favourite songs - in her memory.

Chairman of the theatre group, Ivor Probert, made a special dedication to Louise at the start of the show and said: "Louise joined us at an early age and became a talented performer who we miss.

"We are not here to mourn tonight, but to celebrate her life and the times we had together."

The performance brought smiles and laughter to the audience as they performed songs from popular shows including as Grease, Miss Saigon, and The Rocky Horror Show.

Mr Probert said for a long time, the group couldn't sing certain songs without bringing the whole cast to tears.

But last night, the young stars performed an outstanding collection of songs from Les Miserables, which was the last performance Louise took part in in 2006.

The show ended with Seasons of Love, known as Louise's song to the group, and was accompanied with a photograph slide show of Louise.

Louise's parents were among the hundred people in the audience.

Mum, Georgina Jones, said: "Louise was really into performing these songs, she was very talented."

Dad, Terry Jones added: "It's marvellous to see all these people doing so much work in memory of Louise.

"We would like to thank everybody who has been involved tonight."

Mr Probert announced that the proceeds from the show will go to Ty Hafan hospice because of Louise's ambition to become a doctor.

  • Seasons of Love is also on tonight and Friday at Glyncoed Comprehensive school. Doors open at 6.30pm and the performance will run from 7pm to 9.30pm. Tickets are £5.
