PANTOMIME is about slapstick, comedy and plenty of ad-libbing and the Christmas production by youth group Visions In Glass had all three in abundance.

Their one-off performance of Blondilocks and the Three Braincells in the Wicked Will Shock You at Llantilio Pertholey Community Hall brought some early Christmas cheer for their audience.

The show was written by Lisa-Marie and Emma-Jayne Williams, the sisters who founded the company more than five years ago, and the cast worked incredibly hard to get it right on the night.

The few missed cues did not matter for they all put heart and soul into entertaining, while enjoying themselves at the same time. The group not only provided all the cast, but also the musicians, the props, costumes and make-up.

The tongue-in-cheek script was the sisters' first foray into pantomime and it was certainly topical - mentioning that Asda had ridden into town, killed the cattle, and added another coffee shop, so that it is now "full of coffee shops and charity shops".

The cast was led by our heroine Blondilocks, well played by Chelsea Viveash, whose strong voice suited the musical numbers, taken from West End musicals We Will Rock You and Wicked. She was well supported by our hero, Prince Elf-Harming, played by Isaac Pritchard, whose commanding stage presence suited the part.

The baddie was Chiller Queen (Duanos Eduardos) complete with blue rinse and the Brain Cells (Mamma, Mia and Figaro), were very funny, Lisa-Marie Williams, Laura Jones and Bobby Murray, added to the comedy of the evening.

In the traditional Christmas way, a new star was born - in the shape of Jake Ralph who played Izzakinda Magic so well. Other parts were played by Sophie Murray, Dan Pugh, Lowri Jones, with Emma-Jayne as the narrator and voice-over. Musicians were Emma-Jayne, Lewis Bray, Jonny Pugh and Alex Hopkinson.
