Though there were fewer spectators this year, over 25 hardy souls jumped from Bugley bridge into the Honddu River. This has become the traditional way of celebrating New Year's Day in the Llanthony valley. In the process £175 was also collected for the Great Ormond St Children's Hospital. A donation of £50 from the organisers of the Duck Race held at the same venue increased this total to £225.
Prizewinners in the duck race were: First- Mr and Mrs Peter Sands of the Llanthony Valley who bought their ticket at Llanvihangel's Skirrid Garage. Second was Jamie Probert of Pontrilas who bought his ticket from Caroline Downey and third was, once again, Jane Weale of Cwmyoy. The duck race raised some £340 for Cwmyoy Memorial Hall. The organisers wish to thank all those who supported the events in any way.
