ROYAL Enfield has launched the Woodsman 500, a retro trail bike based around the classic Bullet.

With its high-level exhaust system, trail style handlebars and solo seat the Woodsman mimics the British trail bikes of the 1950s and 1960s.

This classic British 500cc single retains the traditional pushrod design but gets a modern five-speed gearbox and an electric starter. Royal Enfield is quoting an economy of 87mpg, which gives the Woodsman a range of over 250 miles to a full tank.

The Bullet motorcycle has been in constant production since 1949 and is currently manufactured in India. However, with the next generation of Royal Enfields conforming to the strict Euro 3 emissions regulations, the Bullet could be around for a while yet.
