A MAN from Penylan has been arrested following a sexual assault on a teenage girl in Cardiff.
The 19-year-old was arrested on Sunday evening in connection with the "serious" sexual assault and remains in police custody.
The incident occured in the vicinity of Sandon Street and Adam Street, right near the very centre of the city at around 11pm on Saturday, September 18.
The girl is 16 years old and is currently being supported by her family and specialist officers.
She was taken to the University Hospital of Wales but has subsequently been released.
A spokeswoman from South Wales Police said: "We wish to thank those who have already assisted the investigation, particularly in relation to providing CCTV footage, and also the local community for their co-operation while police cordons were in place.
"These cordons have now been lifted but extensive enquiries are continuing.
