STATS from Public Health Wales have confirmed that Gwent has reached 1,000 deaths due to Covid-19.
Two more people have died with the updated figures being correct as of 9am on September 19.
The figure comes from Public Health Wales, who record deaths differently to the Office of National Statistics who say more than 1,500 people have died of the virus.
Deaths in Wales total 5,814, with Gwent making up 17.2 per cent of the fatalities since the pandemic began.
17 deaths in total have been recorded in Wales since the last data release on September 17.
Gwent has recorded 990 new cases of Covid-19 with Caerphilly having the fourth most amount of new cases in Wales with 389.
Newport also has a high amount of cases after recording 265, while Monmouthshire has the lowest amount of cases in all of Wales with 76.
Torfaen has 154 new cases and Blaenau Gwent rounds off the list with 106.
In this latest update Wales has recorded a total of 5,258 new cases - including those who are residents outside of Wales.
Caerphilly (214.8) and Newport (171.3) both have more cases per 100,000 people than the Welsh average (164.7).
