A CAERPHILLY borough business is able to safeguard its jobs thanks to half a million pounds of funding from the Welsh Government.

Hawker Siddeley Switchgear – based in Pontllanfraith – manufactures electrical switchgear and overhead line equipment.

Clients of Hawker Siddely Switchgear include Network Rail, Western Power Distribution, London Underground, Sydney Trains and metro projects in China.

They will be using £500,000 from the Welsh Government to move from their Pontllanfraith base to the former British Airways interior seats assembly factory in nearby Blackwood.

They believe the site will provide an ideal location for the business. The move will safeguard 196 jobs, offering minimal disruption to their workforce.
