THE air ambulance for Bristol and the West of England touched down in Newport earlier today, as it was scrambled as a result of a medical incident.
Shortly after 12pm, the Great Western Air Ambulance Charity’s helicopter was seen hovering above the city, before starting to descend.
Flight radar data shows that the aircraft moved below the height for tracking near to Port Road, in the Maesglas area of the city.
However, it has not been confirmed where the air ambulance landed.
It has since been confirmed that the air ambulance critical care team was scrambled after receiving reports of a medical emergency in which a patient was not breathing.

The air ambulance crew, which consisted of a critical care doctor and two specialist paramedics landed in Newport shortly after 12.30pm.
It has been confirmed by an air ambulance spokeswoman that they assisted emergency services on the scene.
The patient was then taken by land ambulance to hospital for further treatment.
It comes as part of a busy day for the air ambulance team – who were called to four separate incidents alone this morning (Wednesday, September 22), spanning both sides of the border.
A separate air ambulance crew was called to a different incident around the same time – on the M48 near to the Severn Bridge.

A spokeswoman for Great Western Air Ambulance Charity told the Argus: "Our Critical Care Team were called to an incident in Newport shortly after 12.30pm today to a medical emergency and reports of a patient not breathing.
“They responded by helicopter with a Critical Care Doctor and two Specialist Paramedics on board, assisting emergency services on scene.
“The patient was taken to hospital by ambulance.
“This incident was one of four that the air ambulance team have been called out to this morning alone. Their missions are funded by public donations, if you would like to find out more about Great Western Air Ambulance Charity, visit www.gwaac.com."
