A PLASTICS recycling project in Torfaen has been temporarily suspended following the fire at Capital Valley Plastics earlier this month.

South Wales Fire and Rescue received reports of a fire at Capital Valley Plastics’ site at Kays and Kears industrial estate in Blaenavon at around 9.45pm on Saturday, September 4, and the fire was extinguished by around 12.30pm the following day.

The company have been working with Torfaen council on a project to recycle stretchy plastics – such as plastic bags, bubble wrap and food wrappers – which would otherwise go to landfill.
